October Tales from the Ranch "Dwell on the beauty of life. Watch the stars, and see yourself running with them." Marcus Aurelius Greetings, Friends!
Like many of you, I find myself living in a space of uncertainty lately. This strange year has challenged us all in so many ways and at times it is hard to find an anchor of stability and to see the beauty that surrounds us each day.
In spite of the challenges that we're all living with, I find comfort and security in the positive, uplifting constants that surround me. One is the infectious love and enthusiasm displayed by our ambassadors, who have found and embraced the good, as they always do. They are such a wonderful example of the unabashed decency that is in this world. They have adjusted to seeing each other behind masks and through computer screens, but their spirits shine as bright as ever, and they remain a token of light in the world.
The other has been your faithful support and unwavering belief in our work and our mission to improve lives for everyone living with intellectual/developmental differences. We were uncertain what to expect of hosting our first virtual event and entering into a very different fundraising landscape during a pandemic. Not only is it our biggest fundraiser of the year and essential for us to continue our work, it is a beautiful celebration of ability, community and all of the things that Tall Tales Ranch is about and holds sacred.
In spite of these uncertain times, you showed up and helped us to raise over $130,000.00 with your generous donations! You have written letters to our ambassadors, shopped using our King Soopers grocery reward program, faithfully used AmazonSmile and have introduced our work to your own network of friends. Your support allows us to move forward to the next phase and beyond, and we remain full of hope and energy as we finish this crazy year on a high note. I hope that you are proud of our team and of the great strides that you are helping us to make each day.
We can’t thank you enough for making the futures of our ambassadors important to you. For believing that inclusion matters, that everyone deserves a seat at the table, and that together we can do so much.
Be well,
Susan Mooney, Founder/Fairy Godmother
A word from Sally McCance, Director of Programs Despite the challenges of being unable to meet in person, our Young Professional Board continues to remain flexible and rise to the challenge. During our remote September ZOOM meeting, we discussed and adopted our first set of by-laws, addressing board officer positions, board committees, and term limits. Looking forward, the board will begin exploring the topic of diversity (both in our communities and on our board) and continue preparing for our future coffee trailer business. As you can see in this photo, we remain a very serious group who does not have any fun at all.
If you or someone you know may be interested in joining our YPB in January 2021, please click here to complete the application. We've welcomed many familiar faces and even a few new ones to our remote Virtual Programs and Lasso Adventuring Group ZOOM parties! These events have been a blast, full of smiles and laughs, and a very important lifeline to keep our ambassadors engaged and connected to their TTR community.
To register your ambassador for the 3rd session of our virtual programs, beginning on Tues. 10/20, please click here. And be sure to keep an eye out for an email announcing details of our December Lasso virtual family movie night!
